On January 31, 2025, during its 5th regular session, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Zamboanga City passed two resolutions commending the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) College of Law for producing a topnotcher in the 2024 Bar Examination and congratulating Atty. Gregorio Jose S. Torres II for securing 9th place nationwide.
WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena accepted the award on behalf of the university, accompanied by College of Law Dean Atty. Irma Rivero and Atty. Torres.
In her message, Dr. Ochotorena thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod for recognizing WMSU’s academic excellence and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening its legal education program to provide top-tier training for aspiring lawyers.
Atty. Rivero also expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the College of Law’s dedication to continuously enhancing its curriculum and faculty development programs.
Humbled by the commendation, Atty. Torres credited his success to WMSU’s rigorous training and expressed hope that the university would continue producing topnotchers in the years ahead.
