WMSU Earns CHED Recognition at VINTA Onboarding Session

Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) proudly participated in the Vitalizing Initiatives for Nation’s Transnationalization and Accessibility (VINTA) Onboarding Session held on September 22–23, 2025, at the Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City.

The program gathered higher education institutions (HEIs) across the region to strengthen their internationalization initiatives by global partnerships, promoting academic mobility, and enhancing visibility in international rankings.

Representing WMSU were Dr. Mario R. Obra, Jr., Director of the International Relations Office/Global Ranking Officer; Dr. Marilyn Acabo, Technical Associate for Internationalization and Quality Management System; and Dr. Lea E. Usman, Director of the Public Affairs Office and Language Development Resource Center.

During the session, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region IX commended WMSU for its outstanding achievement in the World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) 2025 Rankings, where the university secured the 156th spot among 400 universities worldwide.

This recognition highlights WMSU’s steadfast commitment to advancing global competitiveness and fostering meaningful international collaborations and solidifying its reputation as a university that champions academic excellence on the global stage.
