Outstanding performances marked the participation of the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) delegation in the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Socio-Cultural Competitions 2025, held from October 26 to 30 in Oroquieta City.
Led by University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, the universityโs delegation delivered strong performances across various categories, securing first place in Standard Chorale and Charcoal Drawing, and earning second place in Contemporary Dance, Masining na Pagkukuwento, Show Choir, and Indigenous Dance.
WMSU also ranked third in Essay Writing and Folk Dance, fourth in Kundiman, and fifth in Sanaysay, Vocal Solo, Radio Drama, and Poster Making. The team additionally earned commendable placements in Extemporaneous Speech, Dagliang Talumpati, and other artistic events.
Held in different venues including the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center (AMOSACC), Jimenez Heritage Church, and the Quonset Hall of Holy Rosary School, this yearโs competition gathered state universities and colleges from all over Mindanao to celebrate creativity, artistry, and regional pride.
With these achievements, WMSU continues to strengthen its reputation as a center of excellence not only in academics but also in cultural and artistic expression.
