Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena welcomed Ms. Beatriz Jimeno Ortas, Asesoría Técnica de Educación of the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, during a courtesy visit on March 16, 2026.

During the meeting, Dr. Ochotorena and Ms. Ortas discussed possible educational collaborations between WMSU and Spanish institutions. They explored opportunities for student mobility and faculty exchange programs that could strengthen academic cooperation and cultural engagement.

They also discussed ways to enhance the Spanish language subjects currently offered in several programs in the university. Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening Spanish language instruction to provide students with broader linguistic skills and cultural understanding.
