On March 18, 2026, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Zamboanga City, during its regular session presided over by Honorable Vice Mayor Maria Isabelle G. Climaco, presented Resolution No. 3141 to Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena.

The resolution commends and extends congratulations to Dr. Ochotorena for being named First Runner-Up in the Internationalization Leadership category at the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025.

In her response, Dr. Ochotorena expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and to the resolutionโ€™s sponsor, Honorable Carol Julianne F. Dalipe, for the commendation and their unwavering support for WMSU.
