Mr. Gerardo Concepcion III was valedictorian of the CIPYML (CIPYML (Congressional Internship Program for Young Mindanao Leaders – combined batches 13 and 14 ). Aside from being batch valedictorian, Mr. Concepcion was also recipient of the Top Congressional Intern Award, Mentors’ Choice Award, Best in Paper Presentation (Group Award) and Best in Round Table Discussion (Group Award). Mr. Concepcion finished his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from WMSU and was a student of the College of Law shortly before he joined CIPYML.
The CIPYML is a project of the US-AID GEM (United States Aid for International Development – Growth with Equity in Mindanao) in collaboration with the Philippine House of Representatives (15th Congress), the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City and the National Center for Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) at the University of the Philippines – Diliman. The program aims to create a pool of young professionals with working knowledge in legislative processes, who can later on take up greater leadership roles and help bring peace and development in the area.
Mr. Concepcion is passionate about his advocacy for the success of the peace process in Mindanao. He toils with other youths in the region to push for the full and faithful implementation of the framework agreement. (Ms. Evelyn C. Luceño, WMSU-OP)
