President Macapagal-Arroyo recently appointed Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Vice-President for Research Extension and Development Dr. Grace Rebollos as acting member of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.
WMSU President Dr. Eldigario Gonzales congratulated Dr. Rebollos for the appointment, which he said will give a boost to the quality of health services in Zamboanga City and the region.
The council is the principal agency that has put together a research and development agenda to improve the nation’s health policies and standards and regulatory activities, promote health technology and product development, and undertake quality health education.
Dr. Rebollos will sit in the council for two years, as stipulated in the President’s appointment. It commenced last April 2006 and will end on March 2006. The appointment was signed last September.
The council is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Science and Technology.
Dr. Rebollos has been spearheading a consultation process in Western Mindanao since last year to formulate a national health research agenda for implementation in the years 2005-2010. (Rey-Luis Banagudos / PAO-WMSU)
