CSM Conducts Lecture Series on Triclique Polynomials and Triclique Neighborhood Polynomials of Graphs

The College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), Department of Mathematics and Statistics (DMS), successfully conducted the Part 1 of its lecture series on “Triclique Polynomials and Triclique Neighborhood Polynomials of Graphs,” on November 09, 2024, at 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the CSM Conference Hall. This was participated by all first year Master of Science in Teaching major in Mathematics (MST-Math) students.

Dr. Mohammad Nur S. Paspasan, Dean of the CSM, formally opened the lecture series. In his message, Dr. Paspasan outlined the significance of the event in advancing knowledge and fostering future researches in the field of Graph Theory.

The first lecture was delivered by Ms. Eman C. Ahmad, faculty member of the DMS, who introduced the Basic Concepts in Graph Theory. Her presentation provided the participants with essential background knowledge needed to comprehend the more advanced topics discussed later in the series.

Mr. Aldison M. Asdain, another faculty member from the department, followed with a lecture on Polynomials of Graphs, delving into the intricacies of clique and balance biclique. His discussion set the stage for a deeper understanding of how these concepts play a role in graph theory, laying a groundwork for the more advanced topics in the series.

The final lecture was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Rosalio G. Artes Jr., a faculty member from Mindanao State University- Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO), who joined the event via Zoom meeting. Dr. Artes, who authored a study on Balanced Biclique Polynomial, provided an in-depth virtual presentation on the topic Triclique Polynomials and Triclique Neighborhood Polynomials of Graphs. His lecture also highlighted the latest trends in Graph Theory and introduced emerging areas of study, offering insights that could influence future researches in the field.

The event provided an invaluable learning opportunity for the MST-Math students to appreciate and deepen their understanding of advanced topics in Graph Theory. The lecture series will continue with its Part 2 for further in-depth discussions and lectures on November 23, 2024.

Indeed, this institutional project became possible with the solid support from our visionary University Officials, our WMSU President, Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena; VPRESEL, Dr Joel G. Fernando; and RDEC Director, Dr. Reynante E. Autida to ensure that such academic affairs are delivered with quality for the MST-Math students, living up to the ideal of this University as “a home for intellectual formation that generates knowledge for people empowerment, social transformation and sustainable development.” (Rofaida A. Halun, MST-Mathematics)
