Mr. and Ms. CTHEZP 2024: Showcasing Passion and Leadership in Tourism

The Mr. and Ms. CTHEZP 2024 pageant, held during the 11th Regional Congress and Skills Competition, illuminated the stage with an evening of elegance, talent, and cultural celebration. The event brought together participants from various higher education institutions across the ZambaSulTa, each showcasing their poise, intelligence, and passion for the tourism and hospitality industry.

In a thrilling culmination of the competition, Mr. CTHEZP 2024 was awarded to Steven Kyle Balsomo from Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), while Ms. CTHEZP 2024 was claimed by Liezelle Francisco from Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU). Both winners captured the hearts of the judges with their eloquence, confidence, and advocacy for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

The reset of scores during the final round added an extra layer of excitement, ensuring that the top five finalists had a fair shot at the crown based on their performance in the final question-and-answer segment. This rule highlighted the importance of wit, confidence, and quick critical thinking under pressure.

The competition was closely contested, with the following participants finishing strong:

• 1st Runners-Up Male: Glenn Mark Dela Cruz- ZPPSU; Female: Regine Ajias- – JRMSU

• 2nd Runners-Up: Male – Marlou Caliñahan – Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC); Female – Ma. Hillary Yamongan, Pilar College of Zamboanga City Incorporated (PCZC)

• 3rd Runners-Up: Male – Allen Jerico Claravall, (PCZC); Female – Ara Vergas, Sibugay Technical Institute Incorporated (STII)

• 4th Runners-Up: Male – Elijah Mari Torres; Female- Christine Bustamante, both from Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology

The event featured special awards that highlighted the diverse talents of the participants:

• People’s Choice Award: Marlou Caliñahan (Male) from JHCSC and Nurun Nihar Mandangan (Female) from Notre Dame of Jolo College garnered the highest number of online votes, demonstrating their popularity among the audience.

• Mr. and Ms. Congeniality: Glenn Mark Dela Cruz (ZPPSU) and Rizza Joy Panoncillo (Dipolog City Institute of Technology Incorporated) were recognized for their friendly and approachable demeanor throughout the event.

Contestants showcased their style and creativity through various themed categories:

• Best in Denim Attire: Marlou Caliñahan (Male) FROM JHCSC and Regine Ajias (Female) from JRMSU.

• Best in Promotional Video: Steven Kyle Balsomo (Male) and Regine Ajias (Female), both from JRMSU, captivated the judges with their innovative promotional content.

• Best in Production Number: Marlou Caliñahan (Male) from JHCSC and Regine Ajias (Female) from JRMSU showcased vibrant and dynamic performances.

• Best in Corporate Attire: Marlou Caliñahan (Male) from JHCSC and Liezelle Francisco (Female) from ZPPSU impressed with their sharp and sophisticated looks.

• Best in Barong Filipino: Marlou Caliñahan (JHCSC)

• Best in Filipiniana-inspired Long Gown: Regine Ajias (JRMSU)
