WMSU Unveils Four Major Infrastructure Projects

Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) marked another significant milestone on September 2, 2025, with the ceremonial turnover and blessing of four newly completed infrastructure projects: the Technopreneurship Development Center, Management Information System and Technology Office (MISTO) Building, University Registrar Building, and Al-Fresco.

These projects stand as part of the remarkable accomplishments of Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena during her presidency, reflecting her administrationโ€™s commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and institutional development.

The four-storey Technopreneurship Development Center will house the Office of the Vice President for Resource Generation, University Press, Center for Continuing Education, and the Garment Shoppe, providing a hub for academic and entrepreneurial initiatives. The MISTO Building, meanwhile, serves as a vital component in the development of a Smart Campus, strengthening the universityโ€™s technological and digital capacity. The newly inaugurated University Registrar Building is designed to provide seamless, student-centered services, ensuring greater efficiency and accessibility for the academic community. Completing the projects is the Al-Fresco, which offers food services and an ample dining area that creates a welcoming space for students, faculty, and staff.

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez, Vice President for Resource Generation, highlighted that these facilities signify a strategic leap toward WMSUโ€™s vision of becoming a Smart Research University. She further noted that the projects embody the shared aspiration of building a university that is digitally empowered, entrepreneurially driven, and regionally responsive.

The turnover and blessing ceremonies also coincided with the 5th anniversary of Dr. Ochotorenaโ€™s presidency. In her message, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the WMSU community for their unwavering support throughout the past five years. She acknowledged the dedication of the universityโ€™s employees, praising them for performing their duties with integrity, honesty, and professionalism, qualities that have been vital in bringing these projects to completion.

The blessing of the new facilities was officiated by Rev. Fr. Larry S. Miranda, CMF, and witnessed by the Members of the Board of Regents, Vice Presidents, and other members of the university community.

With a total project cost of โ‚ฑ38,517,238.23, these new infrastructures not only enhance WMSUโ€™s physical landscape but also reaffirm the administrationโ€™s drive to strengthen innovation, efficiency, and service excellence. (AIM, PAO)
