WMSU Advances Distance Education Program through UPOU Alliance

Reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive education, Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) during a signing ceremony held at the OPOU Headquarters AVR in Los Baños, Laguna.

The partnership marks a significant milestone for WMSU as it expands its academic network and strengthens its position as a leading higher education institution in Mindanao. The collaboration outlines several strategic areas of cooperation, including research and training initiatives, faculty and staff exchange programs, student mobility opportunities, consultancy and technical services, and the sharing of academic resources and information. The agreement underscores a shared commitment to meaningful, inclusive, and sustainable partnerships that empower learners and educators alike.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Berhana Flores, OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs and concurrent Chief of Staff, and Dr. Fuvie R. Bayot, Director of the WMSU Distance Education; together with Dr. Joane Serrano, Chancellor of UPOU, and Dr. Juvy Lizette Gervacio, Director of the UPOU Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL).

As WMSU continues to expand its academic footprint, this landmark partnership reinforces its mission to deliver quality education, foster innovation, and serve as a bridge connecting Mindanao to national and global academic networks. (LMP,PAO)
