August 6, 2026 — The Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) officially welcomed students for the opening of School Year 2026–2027 during the University’s Grand Welcome held at the WMSU Open Field.

The event brought together students, faculty members, administrators, and staff as the University formally opened a new academic year. It also gave students the opportunity to meet the University’s leadership, who were formally introduced during the program and reaffirmed their commitment to providing quality education and dedicated service to the WMSU community.

In her welcome message, WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena greeted the students and reminded them that being part of Western Mindanao State University is both a privilege and a responsibility. She encouraged everyone to uphold the University’s core values, pursue academic excellence, and actively contribute to building a stronger and more compassionate WMSU community.

The Grand Welcome also reaffirmed WMSU’s commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment as students begin another year of learning, growth, and achievement. (AAS, PAO)
