The Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) held the National ASEAN Flag-Raising Ceremony on November 3, 2026, at the Dr. Juanito A. Bruno Gymnasium, gathering university officials, faculty members, administrative personnel, and students.
The ceremony was anchored on the theme, “Navigating Our Future, Together,” which also serves as the theme of the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in 2026. As this year’s ASEAN Chair, the Philippines takes the lead in advancing regional cooperation, strengthening partnerships, and promoting a shared vision for a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable ASEAN community.
In her message, University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena reminded the university community of the importance of discipline, punctuality, and commitment to public service. She also emphasized that unity and collective responsibility are essential in pursuing the University’s shared goals and fulfilling its institutional mandate.
The flag-raising ceremony highlighted the significance of ASEAN solidarity and the Philippines’ role in leading the regional organization toward its shared aspirations.
