The Western Mindanao State University – Integrated Laboratory School (WMSU-ILS) Elementary Department celebrated its 2025 Recognition Day on May 5, with the theme “WMSU Students 2025: Nurturing Excellence, Championing Peace, and Advancing Global Progress.” The annual event recognized the outstanding academic achievements and exemplary character of young learners while inspiring them to contribute to a more peaceful and progressive world.
The ceremony opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Anna Louisa R. Perez, Principal of the Integrated Laboratory School. In her message, Dr. Perez underscored the significance of the event as a time to appreciate the hard work, dedication, and resilience of students throughout the academic year. “Recognition Day is more than a celebration of awards—it is a testament to the commitment and effort our learners have shown,” she said. “Let us also remember that failure is not defeat, but a challenge to rise, to improve, and to grow from past experiences.”
The event’s keynote speaker, Ms. Bernice M. Bunol, delivered an inspiring address centered on the values that truly define success. She reminded students that while academic accolades are important, it is character that ultimately shapes a meaningful life.
“More than the awards and the recognition,” she said, “what truly matters in life is your character. Treat others with kindness, be a friend to those who need one, and listen to understand. Every time you choose kindness, you help build a better future—not just for yourself, but for the world around you.”
Parents, teachers, and guests witnessed the recognition of top-performing students, who received honors for academic excellence, leadership, and good conduct. The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy, as students beamed with achievement and gratitude. (A Salim, PAO)
